Sacred Currents: In this series, rivers are more than water—they are spirit and myth in motion. Each painting begins as a quiet listening, a meditation on the murmurs beneath the surface of nature. I layer these fluid stories, until the landscape begins to breathe with something ancient and unseen.
I draw from myth and folklore not to illustrate them directly, but to awaken to their presence in the natural world. Spirits emerge softly through mist and reflection—guardians of thresholds, echoes of transformation, or companions of the soul’s journey. The river becomes a mirror of our own inner flow: shifting, uncertain, luminous.
Through these works, I hope to offer a space where myth and spirit reenters our world—not as fantasy, but as a sacred language that speaks through trees, water, sky and us. Art offers us an opportunity to enter the mystery of existence through enchantment, attention, rapture, and presence. My paintings invite you to remember the living soul of nature, and the eternal connection residing within yourself.

About
Samantha Mabie is a California-based artist exploring the intersection of nature, soul, and myth—using paint to express the unseen currents that flow through the land and within us.
Her paintings reflect the belief that rivers are living beings: storytellers, guides, and thresholds between worlds. Water as a mirror of our consiousness. Water as the source, sustainer and destroyer. She paints in layers of light, depth, and symbolism to evoke places where spirit and nature meet.
Guided by nature and intuition, Samantha paints to remember—what the land holds, what the water whispers, and how myth lives in and connects with us in the everyday. Each canvas is both a map and a meditation, inviting viewers to see the river not simply as scenery but as a soul-bearing presence reflecting our own journey.
